Where the Wild Things Are
Where the Wild Things Are written by Maurice Sendak is a 3.4 on the Accelerated Reading leveling system. The story is about a young boy who travels to a land of monsters at night. He has fun, stays up late, and doesn't have to follow rules. In the end, he realizes that home is where he belong and is where he wants to be. This book could be used in the classroom at the beginning of the year to help students realize that rules are there for a good reason. This book could also be used in a fantasy unit for young readers.
